November 30, 2019
There is a lot going on in my life right now. I completed a major project at work, and I believe I did a good job. The feedback from my supervisors has been positive.
NaNoWriMo2019 is over. I was able to complete my new manuscript with two days to spare. I didn't reach 80K words like I wanted, but I'm satisfied with 67K. The rewrite starts next week. I already have ideas of what I need to change. The first chapter is my nemesis. Beta readers complain about my slow beginnings. The other comment I receive a lot is that I am too descriptive. I guess you can have too much of a good thing.
Write Club has taken a back seat for now. I need to incorporate the critiques from Mia Manansala and Kellye Garrett. I'm still disappointed I wasn't chosen for #PitchWars, https://pitchwars.org/, but I'm moving forward. After revising Family, Monsters and Zaubers, I'll return to Write Club.
Too much going on to participate in #PitMad this December. It's unfortunate, but I'm not ready.
Yesterday, I spent watching Dr. Sleep. That is my new favorite Stephen King novel. The movie - I have mixed feelings. The first part of the movie was awesome! It stayed true to the book. I thought the music was too large in places, but it didn't distract too much from the film. Spoiler alert, after the scene in the park where Abra is kidnapped, the movie deviated from the book. The precipitous ending did not entertain. They movie incorporated the ending of The Shining - the book not the movie. Overall, it was good, but I would have preferred that they remained true to the book because it was great.
I won't be attending the Christmas celebration for Capitol Crimes,
https://capitolcrimes.wildapricot.org/. My son is graduating from UC Davis. I am so excited for him. Be well fellow writers. Keep in touch.
